Richard has twenty-five years experience as an editor, publisher, director of educational, academic and children’s publishers – Ginn, Nelson, Macmillan, and Heinemann. In 1992, he set up an independent consultancy offering training and copyright services to publishers. Richard has also undertaken many overseas training assignments for the Publishing Training Centre and the British Council (Ethiopia, Brazil, Malaysia, Mexico), as well as becoming a director of commissioning, finance and copyright courses.
Richard has increasingly focused on advice and training about copyright, rights, licensing, and digital issues (including digital rights management) for companies. He has also undertaken short courses and further assignments for Chinese publishers on UK visits and in Beijing and Dalian.
Richard is a consultant to Publishers Licensing Society and senior lecturer in publishing studies at Oxford Brookes University. He created the “Copyright Survivors Guide” – a mixture of written advice, half-day training, and follow-up consultancy. This has been delivered successfully to a number of organisations in the education and healthcare sectors. |
